Dealing with Wavy Hair

For the majority of my life I had pin straight hair - Like the kind of hair you'd get from using a straightener.  I was lucky.  Not that you could tell me that - I did everything I could to get my hair to curl (including an ill-advised perm in the 5th grade) - but nothing really stuck.

Even curling my hair was a struggle - curls would wilt and my hair would be straight again long before the day was over. I even tried the happy middle ground - wavy hair!  Surely that would be possible?  Nope.  My hair rejected the waves and just looked... tangled.

Then, one day about a year ago, I noticed something strange... When my hair was wet, it was really, really wavy.  All by itself.

My mom got late-in-life natural curls, so I thought... maybe, just maybe, I was getting the same natural curls!

That left me with the daunting task of learning how to deal with wavy hair...After about a year of trial and error I've settled on these three products:
  • Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Shampoo
  • Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Conditioner
  • Bumble and bumble Bb. curl Conscious Holding Foam

The Shampoo

On days where I don't "do" my hair, I like to just use this NYM's shampoo.  It's Sulfate free, smells good and leaves my soft.

The Conditioner

Adding this NYM's conditioner to my ends gives me a boost of moisture where I need it most.  I like that it's light and doesn't weigh my hair down either.

The Product

I'm crazy about Bumble and bumble products and this holding foam proves why.  I use just the smallest amount and work it through my hair from about 1/4 of the way down from my roots to my ends and scrunch... I scrunch the crap out of it.
So that's how I deal with my new found waves... How about the rest of you curly-headed lovelies out there?  How do you deal with your wavy or curly hair?  Let us know down in the comments!
